Sinton’s LLP are a well-established full-service Law Firm based in Newcastle upon Tyne servicing clients throughout the UK and beyond. With over 200 people delivering first class service built upon their vast 122 years of experience. They have always had a strong policy of investing in their IT provision to better their service and make sure they are able to react in the highly agile and competitive marketplace they find themselves in.

The Challenge

Having had open Microsoft licences in place, it was deemed that the most cost-effective way of modernising their desktop estate was to utilise Office 365. Once settled upon commercially as the right route to proceed, the challenge was then to trial 365 and ensure a smooth transition.

The Solution  

Sintons started by deploying a small number of licences to a discrete number of users to make sure Office 365 was a feasible solution that interoperated successfully with their other non-Microsoft line of business applications. After a successful proof of concept more licences were added ensuring a low risk methodology to rolling out 365. Sintons decided to go with the “E3” plan which give them the best blend of feature set and price.

The Benefits

Office 365 has many benefits over a “traditional” deployment. Unlike a traditional Microsoft agreement based on either perpetual licences, Office 365 has removed the large initial Cap-ex injection that is normally associated with a software refresh. Some of the many benefits include, a more agile workforce, the ability to true numbers up or down on a monthly basis – giving true flexibility as well as less administrative overhead.

 

Office 365 has opened many doors that our previous version of Microsoft Office didn’t give us. I really like some of the feature such as Forms, Planner, Teams, and SFB. Office 365 ties things together much more tightly than we had previously – which has obvious advantages. We now have a better Agile working policy and staff can access their apps on a number of devices. In summary I see Office 365 as a productivity boosting tool that will benefit the firm greatly over time.
